Meet the Coach

Coach Dror

Coach Dror was born in Israel and moved to the United States at the age of 12. His passion for running began in the eighth grade when he broke the six-minute mile in his very first cross-country race.

While attending high school in Fort Myers, Florida, Dror captured the individual state cross-country championship during his senior year and helped lead his team to back-to-back state titles in 1984 and 1985.

After high school, he continued his running career at the University of South Florida, where he was a standout distance runner and team leader. He helped the Bulls win conference championships in 1988 and 1989, claimed the Sun Belt Conference individual championship in 1988, and competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 1989. In 1991, Dror became USF's first NCAA Track & Field Championship qualifier in the 10K, finishing 16th in the nation. His school record of 29:25 in the 10K still stands today.

Following graduation, Dror returned to USF as an assistant coach (1991–2001), then joined the University of Tampa before being named head coach of the Spartans — a position he has held for more than a decade.

As a competitive athlete, Dror qualified for the 1996 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and owns a marathon personal best of 2:21:12. He also set Florida state age-group records in the 15K at the Gasparilla Distance Classic (45:53 in 1988; 45:38 in 1989) and served as a Team-In-Training coach from 1994 to 2006 in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

What We Believe

Our Philosophy

Three principles that guide every workout, every race, and every runner we coach.

Running is for Everyone

Running isn't a gift reserved for athletes. With the right guidance and encouragement, every person — regardless of age, fitness level, or background — can discover the joy of running and keep it for life.

Basics Build Champions

Great running starts with great form. We teach pacing, breathing, posture, and consistency because mastering the fundamentals is how runners at every level achieve their goals and stay injury-free.

Community Over Competition

A finish line means more when your teammates are waiting at it. We celebrate every milestone — from a first 5K to a hundredth race — because running is always better when you do it together.

Come run with us.

No matter where you're starting from, Coach Dror has a spot for you on the team.
